A flier that was put out by a strong mail hauling company, afraid of the power of drivers working together, let their drivers know that "collective bargaining is potentially hazardous to employees...employees could end up with less benefits after unionization." (The insinuation being that the company doesn't have control over whether you get benefits or what wage you make. If you don't have a union, you have a company that wants to take ALL the control.
Keep in mind that there are certain wages and benefits that are government-mandated for mail haulers. NO ONE should/can be taking those benefits away.
No union contract should ever leave workers in a worse-off place. Drivers have the power in this situation. If the contract that is reached does not satisfy youall drivers, vote NO on it. Keep fighting until you have the wages/benefits/respect that make that contract worth it.
One thing is for sure...once you have a union contract, no company man will be coming around telling you that you could lose this or that for not believing the "right things." A union contract is a legally bound document.
