Any one of you can go to the Department of Labor and request the Wage Determination Sheet for mail haulers in your area. (Central, Atlantic, Southern...). This sheet gives a really basic breakdown of what the government expects mail haulers to be making.
Several of these sheets state that mail haulers should be getting one sick day for every 30 hours worked, up to 56 hours. Are you a mail hauler and are you getting sick pay up to 56 hours a year?
Let's assume that you make $27/hour and you never see a dime (of the up to 56 hours of sick pay).
$27 x 56 hours = $1,512
Are you comfortable having someone steal that kind of money from you?
But wait!! That's not all....
What if a company, that didn't give workers their owed sick pay, took their vacation pay and made them use their vacation days, when they called in sick? Well, now they're stealing from the already stolen from.
Not only are you not getting the sick pay you're entitled to, your vacation pay is being taken from you to use as sick pay.
I don't know about you, but things like this make me want to know I have someone watching out for me, some protection.
